Abstract :
Transformer is an electrical equipment that is included in the classification of static electricity machines that function to increase or decrease the voltage. In the transformer there is a dielectric material, namely transformer oil which functions as a coolant and insulator. Several tests were carried out to maintain the optimal performance of transformer oil, including the Break Down Voltage Test (BDV). With the aim of knowing the maximum voltage limit that can be overcome by transformer oil before it breaks down or breaks. Several factors cause a decrease in the
dielectric ability of the oil, namely the water content of the oil and the humidity of the air. Humid air is a high water content in the air. In addition to causing breakdown voltage degradation in
transformer oil, water can also cause components in transformers made of iron to rust. The results of the breakdown voltage test were obtained from the three samples, namely the oil sample 1 obtained 21.2 kV, until oil 2 obtained 48.3 kV and the oil sample 3 was 38.9 kV. In accordance with the PLN test standard (SPLN) 49-1/1992, it must have a breakdown voltage of 30 kV/2.5 mm. From the results of this study, the oil is below the standard in transformer oil 1, because the results of the breakdown voltage are not in accordance with the standard.
