Abstract :
This thesis is a study of lance tube sootblower. material obtained from Rembang Coal Power Plant (Central Java) Unit #20. Lance tube is part sootblower that serves to clean fly ash that attached to the tube-tube that is in the boiler. There are 2 types of sootblower commonly used, namely the type Long Retractable and Short Retractable type, where the lance tube can be operated in and pulled back from inside the boiler. In lance tube sootblower material has been found failure in the form of crooked and broken barks that resemble the bark of a tree in one part of the superheater area. To determine the cause of failure of lance tube, then do the study and research includes visual observation and analysis of some tests such as, metallographic testing to know the micro structure, Hardness testing with Hardness method Vickers, as well as chemical composition testing, and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) -EDX for see the topography or exposure of the lance tube material in the test and the element content chemistry found on the lance tube.
