Abstract :
At the operation of transformers, insulator oil plays an important role. Failure on transformer oil can result in failure of operation and even damage to the transformer. Therefore, it is necessary to check regularly to find out the quality of the transformer oil. The condition of transformer oil can be known from the test result of transformer oil using main parameters, such as Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) which is a method for analyzing the condition of the transformer as seen from the quantity of dissolved gas, breakdown voltage or testing the ability of insulating oil to withstand the applied electrical voltage, and water content or testing the amount of water in transformer oil. The study uses a quantitative correlation method, where the correlation of the main parameters is seen based on the data collected from the test results. From the test of four oil samples, there were early indications of failure in the transformer, such as corona, overheated cellulose, and hot metal, but in low energy levels. Based on the correlation coefficient method, it is known that the DGA parameter has a low correlation with the breakdown voltage and water content parameters, where the correlation coefficient values are obtained, namely 0 and -1. Meanwhile, the breakdown voltage and water content parameters have a high correlation, but are inversely proportional to the correlation coefficient of 1. The oil testing should be carried out every 3 or 6 months with the time of oil replacement depending on the condition and age of the transformer oil.
