Abstract :
The transformer is the main component in the flow of electrical energy in the electrical system so that safety equipment is needed to protect the transformer from short-circuit current. Transformer 1 protection for Duri Kosambi Substation is divided into main protection and backup protection. for main protection, one of which is differential relay and backup protection, one of which is Over Current Relay (OCR) and Ground Fault Relay (GFR). This research uses quantitative methods which start from data collection, processing, or data calculation, until the results can be obtained also in the form of numbers and perform simulations with the ETAP assistance program to monitor the coordination of the protection system. The calculation results show that the 3-phase fault current is 42.680 kA and the 1-phase fault current to ground is 7.956 kA on the 150kV side, while on the 20 kV side the 3-phase fault current is 14,718 kA and the 1-phase fault current to ground is 1,068 kA. For the differential relay works without coordination with other relays and works very fast so that the differential relay only works in the protected region. While the OCR and GFR relays can coordinate well with the condition that when the relay is working the curve on the relay does not intersect or is in operation.
