Abstract :
The use of metal in an industry plays a very important role. Equipment and machinery and installation in the industry almost 90% comes from metal, but metal has weakness that is easy so it can lead to failure of production on industrial components. These problems become a burden for human civilization because of losses that can lead to cessation of production, in addition to the high cost of maintenance issued in an industrial activity. Steel used for the process of forming various purposes must be of high quality. One example is bainite steel. The temperature of bainite formation occurs below the pearlite formation temperature between the temperatures of 215ºC-540ºC. In this study the starting material to be used to form bainite steel is ST37 low carbon steel with its chemical composition C = 0.12%; Si = 0.1%; Mn = 0,500%; P = 0.04%; Al = 0.020%; Cu = 0,1002%; and Fe = 99.1. Steel ST merpakan structural steel with pull strength of 37 kg / mm2. St37 steel will be in heat treatment with variation of time 50 minutes and temperature 90 ? then in tempering with variations of time and temperature 300 ? for 102, 103, 104; 400 ? for 102, 103, 104 and 500 ? for 102, 103, 104. To know the nature of violence in doing violence test. Furthermore, the spectrometry test was conducted to determine the chemical element owned by ST37 low carbon steel after various process. Metallographic testing aims to know the structure of the bainite steel.
