Abstract :
This research was conducted to determine the effect of the electric current flowing through the transmission and environmental conditions, on the safety and reliability of the transmission line. The research was conducted in Section 2 of the 500 kV Balaraja-Kembangan Transmission Line. Clearance is an indicator of safety, while conductor temperature and tensile stress are indicators of reliability. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. Maximum conductor temperature is 75°C. Conducted to collect data on conductors and towers used in the transmission system, as well as data on environmental conditions. Conducted calculation and analysis of conductor temperature, slope, and clearance, as well as tensile stress. With a system that has not received a transmission line voltage, it can deliver 2927.165 MVA of power. As well as calculations under several conditions, it can be concluded that the normal operating conditions of 500 kV under study are safe and reliable. If a short circuit occurs, the conductor temperature is 105.77°C. If the fault is cleared, the main protection is cleared with a time of 0.09s and 435.47°C if the main protection fails and the fault is cleared for backup protection within 0.4s. When fault current condition affects the reliability of the transmission line
