Abstract :
Defense Scheme is a method to maintain the condition of the system from disturbances that can cause widespread outages (system protection). One indicator of a balanced electric power system is frequency. When a major disturbance occurs such as a generator trip, the system condition is no longer balanced where the generator supply is less than the normal load and can cause the system frequency to drop. To return the frequency
condition to the permitted operating range, it is necessary to carry out a defense scheme by applying load shedding using the Under Frequency Relay relay so that widespread
outages do not occur. In this thesis, we simulate the occurrence of major disturbances in the system, the trip of the PLTU Barru 35 MW with the impact of the system frequency dropping to 48.6 Hz, where in the Sulawei network rules in 2020 at a frequency of 48.6 UFR works in stage 4, from the calculation results of the magnitude of the load that must be removed (Under Frequency load shedding ) of 26.007 MW. From the simulation results, it is proven that the release of the load can improve the condition of the system to a normal frequency according to the permitted operating standards.
