Abstract :
The electric power system must be able to cope with any possible disruptions that can occur. Disruptions can lead to decreased reliability as well as performance in electrical power systems. There have been 546 disruptions that resulted in outages at the Betung substation during March 2021 - June 2021. Therefore, contingency analysis efforts are required on the operation of betung substation. Contingency analysis is an analysis technique to model any possible disruption scenario.
Contingency analysis is aimed at determining the value of active power and voltage during normal conditions or when contingency occurs, as well as to determine the representation of the performance index (PI) sequence. PI is a magnitude that
represents how much impact if there is a disruption event in the system. Contingency analysis with performance index method is done by making the order of PI priority based on the calculation of active power and voltage after the contingency in ETAP
16.0 application. Thus, each contingency scenario can be sorted by the largest to the smallest PI values. Greater value of PI, greater impact of interference. From the simulation result of ETAP 16.0. the largest PIV is obtained in skenario 2 with a value
of 5.67. While the largest PIMW is obtained in skenario 3 with a value of 0.17. To improve system reliability, were made to install capacitor banks on several feeders, Bakwan feeder of 4061.31 kVAR, Pempek feeder of 447.94 kVAR, and the Tempoyak
feeder of 445.43 kVAR. The results of the PIV obtained after mitigation with the addition of a capacitor bank make the representation of the PIV for each feeder lower, with the value of 5.58
