Abstract :
Electric vehicles are currently attracting a lot of attention due to the possible dwindling fuel supply. One type of electric motor that is used as an electric drive uses a BLDC (Brushless DC) motor. BLDC motors have advantages, namely simple construction, large torque, high efficiency and more efficient in converting electricity into mechanical energy. This motor does not have a brush so it can reduce losses due to friction, and has a high speed. Another advantage is that the BLDC motor can perform regenerative braking. Regenerative braking can help save energy by storing the energy generated during braking by channeling it back to the battery. Electric vehicles need innovations like this to be able to improve the quality of today's electric vehicles to be more efficient. The design of this research consists of brushless DC motor components, DC generators, motor drivers, and 3-phase inverters. This study describes a simple regenerative braking system to perform energy efficiency, by adjusting the size of the duty cycle to determine the effect of motor speed with the amount of voltage generated during the regenerative braking process. From the research obtained, when the motor speed is reduced from 526.7 RPM to 377.4 RPM; generator can produce a voltage of 13 Volts. This proves that when braking, energy can also be generated that can be used for other purposes
