Abstract :
With the increasing importance of the role of electric power in everyday life, of course, it is necessary to maintain the quality and quality of the electricity generated by hydropower. One of the electrical parameters that must be kept nominal is frequency. Therefore, regulation is needed to respond to frequency changes in power plants, one of which is speed droop. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of speed drop and generator response when there is a change in the frequency value at the Singkarak hydropower plant unit 2. The method used in this study is a quantitative method by performing mathematical calculations. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the speed droop set on unit 2 PLTA Singkarak is 4% where this value is considered suitable and appropriate because it can respond to changes in frequency and supply power of 5.4 MW from the nominal value of power supply of 35.5 MW from installed power of 43.75 MW. The size of the speed droop value is very influential where if
the value is set small, the governor response will be very sensitive and sensitive to changes in frequency, if the speed droop value is set large, the governor will be slow to respond to changes in load so that the frequency will not return to its nominal value.
