Abstract :
Batteries are an important component in off-grid Solar Power Plants (PLTS) which function as energy storage when there is no solar radiation to meet load needs. However, the frequent occurrence of battery damage that has an impact on performance and battery life. Damage to the battery is usually caused by improper use that is not in accordance with the provisions of the battery itself, namely the occurrence of overcharging and overdischarging conditions. Functions that can be performed by the battery management system are monitoring the level of the SOC (state of charge) value and stabilizing the value of the voltage and current entering the battery even though the irradiation value varies. This study conducted a test to determine the performance of the battery management system to stabilize the voltage and current values using 16 lead-acid batteries with a nominal capacity of 150 Ah and a nominal voltage of 12 Volts, 6 sunny island inverters. The sunny remote control and the sunny webbox website are used to make it easier to monitor the battery parameter system such as the SOC value, SOH value, voltage value and also the current entering the battery. The impact of using a battery management system on the sunny island inverter is to keep the current and voltage values entering the battery stable so that there is no overcharging that can affect the performance and battery life.
