Abstract :
The electric power system itself consists of three subsystems, namely the generation system, transmission system and distribution system. In the power generation system, it will generate electricity which will then be distributed through the substation. Therefore, every equipment in the substation must be able to handle if there is a short circuit current disturbance, especially the power breaker (PMT) must be able to cut it if there is a short circuit current disturbance. Since the circuit breaker at the Panakkukang substation has been around for a long time, it is necessary to calculate the short-circuit fault current to determine whether the installed PMT is still suitable for use or not. In this study, a short-circuit fault current will be calculated, namely the three-phase short-circuit current and the single-phase short-circuit current to ground. The calculation of the short- circuit current is made easier because it uses the help of the ETAP 12.6 software where the results for the three-phase short-circuit fault current are obtained which are 12.505 kA while the single-phase short-circuit fault current to ground is 14.126 kA. Then the three-phase asymmetrical fault obtained a fault of 12.580 kA and a single-phase fault to ground of 14.210 kA. Meanwhile, the breaking capacity of the short-circuit fault current at the power breaker at the Panakkukang substation is still much larger than the fault current that occurs, namely the disconnection capacity of 40 kA. So that the installed circuit breaker still meets the requirements of good protection.
