Abstract :
This study will do test about the characteristic of armature current and field current to speed of DC shunt motor, the study consist of modeling simulation using Simulink
MATLAB and also research on the laboratory, result from both activity will be compared after it done. Characteristic of motor armature current to speed is directly proportional, on no load simulation motor speed measured 1761 RPM at 20 ? of additional armature resistance and then the speed decreased to 1101 RPM when the additional armature resistance increased to 150 ?, and in laboratory the speed of motor measured at 1714
RPM when additional armature resistance is 20 ? and slowing to 1384 RPM when resistance is increased to 150 ? . Characteristic from field current to speed of motor when speed is controled by regulating the armature current will not affect motor field current, on simulation with Simulink MATLAB, field current measured constant at 0.55 A, however in laboratory field current measured about 0.10 A at lowest and the highest 0.16
A. Comparison between modeling simulation and research on laboratory, there is a slight difference about 2% to 26%. It can be because of equipment condition that used in the laboratory.
