Abstract :
NGR (Neutral Grounding Resistor) is one of the neutral grounding methods of the electric power system where a resistor is used to connect the secondary neutral point of the transformer to the ground. For this study of disturbances in the NGR, the necessary data were collected. Furthermore, the calculation of the unbalanced current that occurs and the short-circuit current and the time of termination are carried out according to the relay settings in the 20 kV main feeder, . Detailed data of NGR damage is checked for analysis purposes. From the calculation results it turns out that there is a neutral current flowing through the NGR during normal operation due to load imbalance. Based on the data obtained, this neutral current always flows and varies between a minimum value of 17 A and a maximum of 65 A. The results of the calculation of the phase to ground short circuit current by setting using the relay setting used are TMS = 0.225s and Is = 0.15 A is 287 ,4 A with a disconnection time of 0.263 s at the fault location at the end of the feeder and 288.48 A with a disconnection time of 0.263 s for a fault at the base of the feeder. These results do not exceed the NGR rating of 300 A 10 s. The fault current recording shows that when the fault current is cut off, there is a current transient with an irregular shape so that there may be a high-frequency current component that will cause an overvoltage between the NGR terminals.
