Abstract :
In meeting the needs of electrical energy, every year there is an additional load on the transformer, but in fact this additional load does not pay attention to the appropriate phase, causing an unbalanced load on each phase of the transformer. As a
result, there are losses in the neutral conductor. Therefore, this research was conducted to find out more about the consequences of unbalanced load, especially on the
transformers at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Wua-Wua, namely the AAKD38 Substation. The method used in this research is to use the interview method and also field observation.
The results of this study on the AAKD38 substation distribution transformer, there is a unbalanced load of 25.67% at LWBP and 26.67% at WBP with total losses in the neutral conductor of 8.871 kW which makes a total energy loss of 88.794 kWh. Then with the solution of balancing the load, it can reduce the value of the unbalanced load to 5% at LWBP and 1.67% at WBP with total losses in the neutral conductor of 2,072 kW which
makes the total energy loss of 22.404 kWh. The results of this study concluded that the magnitude of the unbalanced load can be reduced by balancing the load so that losses can be reduced as well as reduced energy losses.
