Abstract :
The shaft voltage itself occurs because of the voltage that flows through the rotor shaft section in the generator to the ground so that there is a voltage circulation in the closed loop of the PLTA Maninjau generator unit 4. Seeing the large grounding current that flows from 12 A to 13.06 A, it is classified as a circulating bearing current because of the rotor ground current and this condition usually occurs in a large current range of 1-35A. This factor is driven by several reasons, namely the impedance from the rotor to the ground is smaller than the impedance from the stator to the ground. And the test steps are carried out by measuring the amount of voltage on the body with ground, shaft with ground and shaft with shaft. The shaft grounding ring is a ring consisting of two separate parts with the aim of facilitating the installation process to the generator rotor shaft and being strong in case of vibration. For the design of the shaft grounding ring, the size adjustment is carried out according to the diameter of the generator rotor shaft which will be placed and will later be visualized using a solid works application. After that, the position of the selected shaft grounding ring is at the upper breaket because the position is suitable and close to the generator shaft, the placement position can be easily monitored in the future and is close to existing grounding facilities so that it does not require a long line anymore. the ability of the grounding ring to transmit a grounding current of 11.9838 A to 13.0423 A. This condition is ideal in dealing with the problem of the impedance from the rotor to the ground being smaller so as to create a safe grounding point from the shaft grounding ring facility.
