Abstract :
In this research, the analysis of lightning protection system planning aims to determine the level of lightning protection, the area protected by lightning rods, and ground resistance at the Saumata Suites Apartment. At the Saumata Suites Apartment with a building height of 120 m, the average number of lightning strikes is 11.4012 strikes per year. From the results of the average number of lightning strikes, the efficiency value is 0.99, so that the level of lightning strike protection at the Saumata Suites Apartment is at protection level I. In the calculation results of the lightning strike distance value obtained is 313.0902 m and the radius of the lightning strike protection area is 247.180 m. The protection area obtained can be seen that the lightning strike protection system at the Saumata Suites Apartment has been able to protect the building from lightning strikes. The grounding system used to transmit this lightning current uses rod electrodes. Where the grounding at the Saumata Suites Apartment has a resistance value of 0.65 from the calculation of the grounding system design and from the test results obtained a value of 0.73 . From the results of calculations and testing obtained a relative error value of 12%. This is caused by several factors such as soil temperature and soil moisture at the time of testing.
