Abstract :
Electrical installations are an important part of buildings because buildings need electricity for lighting and equipment that requires electricity to work properly. In a building there are several electrical installations that do not follow the standards of the general requirements for electrical installations (PUIL). Electrical installations must pay attention to the standard of safety provisions determined by PUIL which are in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The Tanjung Karang Polytechnic building found many components that were not suitable for use, for example in the Rectorate Building and the Dormitory Building where damage to components found included sockets, switches, installation lines and MCB boxes. Types of damage to the dormitory and rectorate buildings include sockets that are directly jumped into the terminal without using a plug, terminals that are connected directly to the source, use of inappropriate electrical safety components. The author recommends repairing electrical installations by removing the jumper terminals at the outlet, replacing electrical components by adding sources and outlets in order to increase the safety value and reduce the risk of short circuits due to electrical installations that are not in accordance with applicable standards.
