Abstract :
Indonesia is a country with a geographical location on the equator, so it has a fairly abundant source of solar energy with an average solar irradiation intensity of 4.8 kWh/m2/ per day for all parts of Indonesia. Technologies that can convert solar radiation energy into electrical energy are commonly called 'photovoltaic' cells or solar panels. Shading is where one or more photovoltaic cells are covered from sunlight. Shading will reduce the power expenditure of the photovoltaic. In the tests carried out using several particle substances as shading, namely paper, leaves or twigs, and rain water. The photovoltaic modules used are Monocristalline and Polycristalline types with the same power installation, namely 40 Wp which are arranged in series. The Fill Factor value of monocrystalline PV is 0.71 and polycrystalline PV is 0.75. In paper shading conditions, the efficiency of monocrystalline photovoltaic is 10,17%, while the efficiency of polycrystalline photovoltaic is 7,08 %. In leaf/twig shading conditions, the efficiency of monocrystalline photovoltaic is 15,94%, while the efficiency of polycrystalline photovoltaic is 10,48 %. In rainwater shading conditions, the efficiency of monocrystalline photovoltaic is 6,81%, while the efficiency of polycrystalline photovoltaic is 4,02%. In the study of several shading effects on monocrystalline and polycrystalline photovoltaics which have higher efficiency are monocrystalline photovoltaics.
