Abstract :
To protecting the main electrical substansion's equipments, particularly the transformator, protection system must be protecting the transformator while disturbance happend so that the components indside the transformer will stay protected from interference and maintain reliability. One of the main protections in transformer is differential relay. Differential relay will be working when the unstable of the electric current that flows on the high-voltage side and the low-voltage are relatively larger than the nominal current, and will be working without delay. The purpose of this research is to find the comparison of the differential relay setting is according to the mathematical calculation and differential relay's data setting in Gardu Induk Cilegon Baru. The result of the mathematical calculation is 0,24 A of the differential relay setting with the result of the setting slope1 is 29,32% and setting slope2 is 58,64%. To simulate it, the researcher is using electrical transient analyzer software program to find the performance of the differential relay while the disturbance happened in the internal transformator and external transformer and calculate the value of the fault current in differential and apply it to the differential setting current. The result of the differential relay performance simulation when the internal disturbance happend, showing that differential relay works within 2 ms and working hour of the circuit breaker (PMT) is 30ms in both sides, along with the differential current result is 7,71 A in the 20 kV disturbance side, so that the differential relay works because of the differential current value is larger than the setting current.
