Abstract :
The transmission system is a system for the distribution of electrical energy from one area to another. To protect the transmission system from GI Balongbendo to GI Sekarputih which is one of the important or main (backbone) lines, a protection system is needed. The protection system used is distance relay as main protection and overcurrent relay as backup protection. For distance relays working based on fault impedance, the adjustment consists of several zones, namely: zone 1, zone 2, and zone 3. For backup protection, overcurrent relays work based on the magnitude of the fault current, for adjustment using standard inverse. To simulate the calculation results for setting the main and backup protection relays using the DigSilent Power factory 15.1 application by providing 3-phase and 2-phase interference on the specified line. Interference on each line is given interference as far as 15%, 50% and 85% of the length of the line. From the simulation results, the main protection does not misread the fault zone and the backup protection works if the main protection fails.
