Abstract :
In one of the distribution transformers at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Karang, namely the Distribution Transformer KRGK 0136 in the ES Feeder, the Transformer is experiencing an overload condition with a loading percentage of 95% which exceeds the standard set by SPLN, which is 80%. The purpose of this paper is to find out how to overcome the problem of transformers experiencing overload conditions at the KRGK 0136 distribution substation at the ES Feeder and to analyze the results of the large percentage of loading on the transformer and see the efficiency value of using the KRGK 0136 transformer before and after uprating the transformer. The researcher wrote this thesis by collecting data at ULP Tanjung Karang, and conducting a question and answer session with the field supervisor and then conducting a literature study that supports solving the problem of overloaded transformers. Therefore, in overcoming the problem of an overloaded transformer on the KRGK 0136 transformer, improvements were made by looking at these conditions, one of which was by uprating a transformer with a larger capacity to 250 kVA from the previous 200 kVA. From the results of the uprating, the percentage value of the transformer loading is 73% which before the Uprating Transformer was 95%, so it decreased by 22%. Then seen from the value of the efficiency of the use of a transformer with a capacity of 250 kVA the use of the load is decreasing. This proves that transformer uprating is one method that can be used to overcome the problem of overload at distribution substations.
