Abstract :
Electrical energy is the energy needed as a support for the facilities needed in human activities. Transmission line is a channel to channel the energy from the plant to consumers in high voltage, therefore it needs protection system in transmission line that is reliable, selective, sensitive, and fast. High voltage cable lines 150 kV between Surabaya Barat ? Karang Pilang Substation is used by line current differential relay as the main protection while distance relay is installed as backup protection. This study was conducted to see the results of relay settings between the two substations with manual calculations that have been done and simulated using DigSILENT 15.1. From the calculation results obtained obtained Is1=1 A, slope 1 (K1) = 20%, Is2 = 10 A, (K2) = 80%. For setting values distance relay Zone 1= 0.3197333?83.975° ?, Zone 2 =0.7699128?79.097° ?, and Zone 3 =1.625675 ?78.044° ?. From the fault simulation, the results of the relay settings that have been carried out can prevent 3-phase short-circuit faults from spreading
