Abstract :
The problem that arises and most often occurs in high-voltage engineering sistems is about insulation failure. Failure of the transformer oil will result in a Breakdown Voltage. This happens because the transformer oil is no longer able to withstand the high voltage that passes through it. This causes the insulator that previously worked as a safety to turn into a conductor, causing a Breakdown Voltage. The research method used is a
Breakdown Voltage research method. In this study, the authors used the variable distance between the electrodes, temperature and contamination of transformer oil. The results of the research that has been carried out At the taper electrode a distance of 2.5 mm the translucency voltage is 12.98 kV. While at a distance of 1 cm the Breakdown Voltage reaches 44.18 kV. This is because the greater the distance, the greater the energy required to reach the Breakdown Voltage. from the results of the research data on the temperature of the transformer oil at a temperature of 30°C the Breakdown Voltage value is 8.48 kV.
At a temperature of 70°C the Breakdown Voltage value is 27.25 kV. when water contaminants are added to the oil, at 5 ml water contamination the Breakdown Voltage is 11.73 kV and at 10 ml contamination the Breakdown Voltage is 8.17 kV. at 5 g of rust
contaminants is 6.24 kV. For 10 gr rust contaminants, the Breakdown Voltage value is getting smaller, which is 4.20 kV.
