Abstract :
Protection system is very important in an electric power. The protection system on electric power works for the electrical system on electric power works for the electrical network system from dangers and disturbances, one of which is a short circuit. The Ende substation is located in the city of NTT. The Ende substation consists of 5 interconnected power plants, such as PLTD, PLTS, PLTU, PLTMH and PLTD. The Ende substation uses an OCR protection system plan. One of the problems to set the working time of the relay can be solved by using artificial intelligence, one of them is Firefly Algorithm. The firefly algorithm has the benefit of solving combinatorial optimization problems. The firefly algorithm can be used in optimization of protection system. At an intensity can be set in suac a way that it can be used with the objective function that we have determined so that the result of our objective function can be determined optimally. In scheme I when there is a disturbance of 1,489 kA then the PMT will work within 2330 ms. In scheme II when there is a disturbance of 2,154 kA then the PMT will work within 1857 ms. In Scheme III when there is a disturbance of 2,223 kA then the PMT will work within 1177 ms. Protection coordination simulation on ETAP works fast and coordinated and works according to the fault area. So the parameters can be uploaded and stored on a digital relay. When there is a change in the network topology, the protection system can work optimally and work in a coordinated.
