Abstract :
Hot rolling is the initial stage of the material rolling process. Hot rolling is carried out above the recrystallization temperature. The material to be controlled is usually an ingot or casting metal (foundry). Cast material has a coarse structure and the grains are not uniform. Because the structures inside are coarse and uniform, casting materials have brittle properties and may have small holes (pores). By doing the hot rolling process, cast material structure can be converted into wrought material structure. Wrought structure has finer and neater grains. The grain condition makes the material more ductile. In addition, the hot rolling process can also close small holes in the material. Each material has a different hot rolling temperature. The alloy steel uses a rolling temperature of 1000 ° C. Characterization of laterite steel 1.7% Mn, 1.71% Cr, 1.8% Ni is performed to know the characters of acceptable strength. The ASTM E8 standard for Tensile Test and ASTM 23 for Impact Test is expected to provide accurate data about the laterite steel character of 1.7% Mn, 1.71% Cr, 1.8% Ni in order to be the industry solution in the future.
