Abstract :
PLTGU Gresik uses a vertical type HRSG that utilizes gas turbine exhaust gas to produce steam pressurized (especially superheated steam). Within the HRSG there are four structures including Preheater, Economizer, Evaporator, and Superheater. Leaks that occur on HRSG tubes often occur in unit 1 of Block 3 of PLTGU Gresik. This event has occurred in all parts of HRSG, both in the preheater, economizer, evaporator or superheater. This type of leak is in the form of cracks or even holes. Leaks will cause thermal stress, which causes the tube to break. Leaks that often occur are located in the uppermost stage of the HRSG in the preheater. One way to deal with the leak is plugging before doing a large overhaul for retubing. Plugging is done by 15 HRSG tube preheater from 1092 tubes. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the preheater before and after plugging, where after plugging the amount of heat transfer is reduced and the heat transfer rate is also reduced. From the data at the same load of 94.7 MW, the preheater effectiveness value is 0.5541 before plugging and 0.5504 after plugging. From plugging optimization, the maximum number of plugs in the preheater is 11,5% of the total number of tubes.
