Abstract :
Condenser is the main component in the power plant system in maintaining the performance of the unit which is a heat exchanger. The main function of the condenser is to return the exhaust steam turbine from the vapor phase to a liquid phase so that it can be pumped back into the boiler as boiler feed water. The condenser is able to create a low pressure (vacuum condition) on the turbine exhaust. to change the vapor phase into liquid phase requires vacuum conditions as well as water cooling media flowing through condenser tubes. In the case of this study there were differences in condenser tube material between unit 3 and 4 condenser. In unit 3 the condenser tube material used titanium while in unit 4 the condenser tube material used aluminum brass. This Condenser Tube will affect the condensation process inside the condenser, with a different condenser tube material that can affect the rate of heat transfer from the condenser because of the different thermal conductivity values. The purpose of this study is to analyze the comparison of the performance of a condenser to the rate of heat transfer and the feasibility of using a different condenser tube by calculating the rate of heat transfer, heat transfer coefficient and average temperature differences. The thermodynamic formulation can calculate the feasibility of use and a recommendation for the use of a condenser tube in a Generating Unit.
