Abstract :
In the steam power plant, sea water has been processed and purified, then heated to form a steam that basically serves as a turbine drive that is forwarded to the generator to produce electric current and this vapor will be re-condensed into water known as water condensate. The main open cooling system is a system that provides and supplies the main cooling water to the condenser where the seawater will be pumped into condenser tubes so that the steam derived from the turbine can be condensed, and also to supply the cooling water requirements in the Auxiliary Cooling Heat Exchanger. The tool used is Circulating Water Pump (CWP). One way to maintain CWP reliability is to maintain lubrication in bearings in normal amounts and conditions. The type of lubricant used by CWP is the adjusted liquid or oil lubricant. The cooling system for CWP lubrication uses seawater media drawn from line discharge pumps circulated to lubrication by an indirect contact method through a road called a CWP line cooler, which serves to keep the temperature change in the lubrication. Lubricant abnormalities may occur due to the failure of the cooling system to lubrication. The problem experienced in this cooling system is the inclusion of dirt on the CWP line cooler because there is no filtering in the inlet line cooler, so the cooling system is clogged and cause the lubrication at CWP to rise temperature which if not quickly handled will be fatal to bearing CWP and will disturb the reliability units. Due to the serious consequences that can occur, we modify the CWP line cooler by creating a simple filter that can prevent dirt from entering the cooling system.
