Abstract :
Recently, illiteracy is one of the crucial problems in Indonesia. Based on the data compiled from the Center of Statistical Data by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, it confirms that the percentage of illiterate populations attain 2.068% or around 3.474 million people.The government initiates to invite all related parties in eradicating the illiteracy matter. Moreover, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia suggests that the importance of raising the individuals' awareness towards the problem can be started from the family circle. Therefore, recognizing an innovative technology in learning alphabets and numbers tends to be more prominent in the small scope of a society. Furthermore, in the present research, took data on 10 illiterates of various ages and the author proposes a template matching as a technique to introduce alphabets and numbers. Notably, it facilitates the users to find the small parts of a certain figure which are appropriate with the references regarding the similarity level. Thus, it seems beneficial in processing the digital image. To conclude, the availability of template matching with the support of sounds can help 90% the illiterate community from 10 illiterates to understand the variety of alphabets and numbers.
