Abstract :
Energy recovery turbine is a centrifugal hydraulic pump consisting of a turbine and pump that is installed in one shaft. The reject water from the reverse osmosis membrane which still has a pressure of 46 bar is passed to the turbine section which is used to drive the pump shaft so that it can rotate simultaneously. The design of energy recovery turbine is used to produce an increase in sea water pressure before entering the reverse osmosis membrane by 1.5 times the discharge pressure of the HP pump. The reverse osmosis membrane at PT PJB UP Muara Tawar Block 5, seawater flow enters the reverse osmosis membrane at 30.24 m3/h with a pressure of 47 bar, and reject water flow is 21.6 m3/h and the resulting efficiency is 51%. While the discharge pressure of HP pump is 30 bars. In this research, the impeller from energy recovery turbine is redesigned so that its efficiency increases to 69.4% and increases the lifetime of energy recovery turbine by replacing the material from Duplex 2205 to Super Duplex 2507.
