Abstract :
The problem of the Waterwall tube at the PLTU Sebalang Power Plant is that there is a thin failure on the outside of the pipe which will cause a decrease in efficiency and experience a large loss if the plant does not operate. Therefore, this study and testing focused on Waterwall Tube with the RCFA method (Root Cause Failure Analysis) and the chemical composition testing was carried out, by observing the chemical elements contained in the material using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) contained in Tube Waterwall material according to SA210 A1 (ASME) standard Metallographic test is very necessary in this case to observe the microstructure of the test material and hardness testing to determine the strength of the material. The results of this analysis and testing show that the depletion of the Waterwall Tube caused by friction between the bed material (silica sand and coal) with the pipe burning in the furnace called erosion seen from visual testing and SEM-EDX shows the results of SEM photos that show there are scratches with a bed material and elements contained iron (Fe) and carbon (C), and seen in the results of metallographic test the microstructure is in the grain boundary area, which is still clearly visible in the form of ferrite pearlite which has undergone decarburization. And from violence is still normal under the 79 HRB standard
