Abstract :
Road construction in Indonesia generally uses a type of hot mix asphalt concrete,
one of which is stone matrix asphalt or split mastic asphalt (SMA). With the
abundant fiber utilization efforts the use of fibers in asphalt mixtures is intended
to know the performance of SMA with the addition of fibers. This test uses the
marshall method to determine the characteristics of the mixture. Variations in
fiber content used in campuran are kapok fiber 0.05%+0.2% coconut fiber,
kapok fiber 0.075%+0.2% coconut fiber, kapok fiber 0.1%+0.2% against the
mixed weight. Based on the test results obtained optimum asphalt content of
6.7%. Stability results improved in each variation with values of 737.94Kg,
980.84Kg, 1045.98Kg, and 1078.39Kg. Marshall durability values in fiber levels
also increased by 85.32%, 87.93%, 92.57%, and 93.22%. Based on the data, sma
mixture with the addition of cellulose fibers can improve the performance of
SMA mixture compared to without the addition of cellulose fibers. The best fiber
variation rate is 0.1%+0.2% because it has the highest stability value.
