Abstract :
Concrete is a material that is conventional and used in general to build
infrastructure because the material for making concrete is easy to obtain at a
relatively affordable price and the method of manufacture is relatively simple,
the use of concrete is not environmentally friendly because the manufacture of
cement produces greenhouse gas emissions (carbon dioxide). 1.6 billion tonnes
accounted for about 7% of the carbon dioxide load into the atmosphere. Fly ash
(fly ash) is a waste of coal combustion that causes air and groundwater pollution,
but has a high potential as a substitute for Portland cement in the manufacture of
concrete, fly ash does not have a binding power like Portland cement. The
addition of water and activator (sodium metasilicate) will result in a chemical
reaction between the silicate oxide found in fly ash and sodium metasilicate.
Kaolin is an additive that has an abundant amount of availability, in the form of
a powder that has a cement-like shape. The variations used in this study were
30% fly ash and 10% kaolin from the amount of cement and sodium metasilicate
as cement additive with variations of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Planned according
to SNI 7656-2012, with slump 75-100 mm. The test parameters were slump test,
compressive strength, split tensile strength and concrete absorption, for testing
the compressive strength and tensile strength at the age of 7 days, 14 days, and
28 days, while the absorption test was carried out on day 28. The results showed
that the strength value was The optimum pressure is found in the variation of fly
ash 30%, kaolin 10% and Sodium Metasilikat 10% from the amount of cement,
which is 19,85 MPa at the age of 28 days with an absorption value of 0,76% and
a slump value of 7,2 cm. The lowest compressive strength is found in 30% fly
ash and kaolin sebanyak 10% and Sodium Metasilikat 5% from the cement
amount of 14,56 MPa with an absorption value of 0,77% and a slump value of
6,9 cm.
