Abstract :
Paving Block or can also be called concrete brick made of cement and
fine aggregate. To produce paving blocks with good results, it really depends on
the material contained therein. One of them by utilizing waste fractions marble
have surface a bit rough and hard and clean of mud so as to provide strong on
pasta cement and Fly Ash is best used as a binder in a mortar mix . In this study,
paving blocks were made using marble shard waste as a substitute for fine
aggregate and waste fly ash as a cement substitution. The purpose of this study
was to determine the compressive strength and water absorption capacity and the
optimum composition of marble shard waste material as a substitute for fine
aggregate and fly ash as a cement substitute. With a constant variation of fly ash
15%as a substitute for cement and marble shard waste as a fine aggregate
substitution with variations of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The
compressive strength test was carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days and 28
days. The water absorption test was carried out at the age of 28 days. The results
of the compressive strength test in this study which resulted in the optimum
compressive strength value were found at V6 (50% LPM and 15% FA) which
was 25.42 MPa and the absorption percentage was 4.284%. Based on SNI 03-
0691-1996 the paving blocks produced in this study include B quality which can
be used for parking lots.
