Abstract :
Road pavements in Indonesia, especially in coastal areas, generally experience
damage before reaching its service life. This is caused by the influence of
seawater that soaks the road for a long time. An alternative that can be taken in
an effort to increase pavement durability is polymer modified asphalt. Therefore,
this study was conducted to determine the effect of sea water immersion on the
durability of the AC-WC mixture with the addition of variations of Ethylene Vinyl
Acetate (EVA) 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%. The tests were marshall tests to obtain
marshall parameters and immersion was carried out for 0 days, 1 day, 2 days
and 3 days with sea water from Muara Angke Port, Jakarta. The highest stability
mixture with the addition of 3% EVA at 0 day immersion, which was 3615.14 kg.
The value of IDP at EVA variations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% respectively are
1.36%, 1.18%, 1.03%, 0.83%, and 1.07% with the smallest decrease value is
30.16 kg. IDK values at EVA variations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% respectively
are 15.99%, 13.97%, 12.16%, 9.91%, and 12.56% with the smallest decrease
value is 358.30 kg.
