Abstract :
Porous asphalt is an asphalt mixture that is designed to have a high
porosity compared to other pavements. Porous asphalt contains a larger air
cavity so that it is able to drain water both horizontally and vertically. This
study aims to determine the characteristics of the porous asphalt mixture
against the substitution of pumice ash filler. Making samples for determining
the optimum asphalt content (KAO) based on the Australian Asphalt
Pavement Association (AAPA) method with several parameters, namely;
Cantabro Loss (CL), Asphalt Flow Down (AFD) and Voids In Mix (VIM)
with asphalt content of 4%, 4.5%, 5%, 5.5% and 6% before being substituted
with pumice ash. testing and calculation of Marshall, CL and AFD
parameters were carried out to obtain KAO. Based on the results of the study,
the KAO value was 4.95% and then the test object was made at the KAO
value with the addition of pumice ash variations of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%.
From the test that has been added pumice ash, the results obtained with a
greater stability value at 0.5% pumice ash content of 795.10 Kg and a
decrease in Flow value after reaching the optimum level of 1%. The addition
of pumice ash can reduce air voids (VIM) which indicates the mixture
produces a strong binding capacity and at 0.5% pumice ash content results in
a large weight loss rate of 12.82% compared to without a mixture of pumice
ash 10,59% and an increase in asphalt quality after the addition of pumice ash
at a level of 1% to the aggregate separation value (Asphalt Flow Down). So
after the analysis, the optimum percentage of pumice ash addition for porous
asphalt pavement is 0,5%.
