Abstract :
The construction of a 500 kV transmission line from GITET Lengkong to GITET Balaraja was done to overcome the increasing load growth rate in Jakarta and surrounding areas. In the construction of new channels, it is necessary to be
equipped with a protection system, so that the epower distribution system has good reliability. One of the protection tools needed is the Circuit Breaker (CB) which serves to break the power flow when the transmission line is interrupted, especially short circuit. In determining the CB capacity to be installed, a short circuit analysis is needed. This is because the determination of PMT capacity is
based on the value of the greatest fault current, namely the three phase short circuit current. In this thesis, the calculation of single phase short circuit current and three phase short circuit current to the ground on the 500 kV transmission line Lengkong - Balaraja. With a three-phase short circuit current value of 41,108 ? ? 85,41° kA, while the single-phase short circuit fault current value that
may flow is 43,762 ? ? 83,77° kA. So that the selected PMT is PMT with a short circuit current rating of 50 kA. The result of the calculation of PMT capacity on the channel is 14433,7 MVA.
