Abstract :
Transformer oil functions as a refrigerant and an insulator that works continuously. As long as the transformer is working, there is an increase or decrease in the load and the influence of outside air which causes fluctuations in the temperature of the transformer. The condition of fluctuations in the temperature of the transformer can cause an effect on the function of the transformer oil. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of temperature changes on the viscosity and value of the breakdown voltage of transformer oil when heating occurs in mineral type transformer oil. This study tested Hyrax and Nynas transformer oil with new and used conditions. Associated with the standardized viscosity parameter used is SPLN 49- 1:1982. SPLN 49-1:1982 states that the maximum limit for the viscosity of transformer oil is 12 cSt at 40°C. For testing the breakdown voltage, IEC 156 is used. The IEC 156 standard for breakdown voltage is >30 kv/2.5 mm using the BAUR Oil Tester. In the data obtained Nynas Baru oil temperature of 28? (not yet heated), temperature of 40? - 70? the kinematic viscosity values are 9.761 cSt, 7.905 cSt, 7.519 cSt, 7.399 cSt and 7.061 cSt. While the breakdown voltages are 32.7 kV, 38.9 kV, 54.88 kV, 58.58 kV and 61.65 kV. From the results of the viscosity test, the higher the temperature, the lower the viscosity. When the viscosity is lower, the breakdown voltage value is getting better.
