Abstract :
When covering the power demand, there is often an unequal load distribution between the phases. One of the causes of load imbalance in distribution transformers is the uneven distribution of loads on each transformer. This causes current to flow in the transformer neutral, causing power losses that can harm both the provider and the customer. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effects of load imbalances on neutral current and power losses in distribution transformers and their impact after load balancing procedures have been implemented. The research method used is a quantitative method. The results showed that after load balancing, the percentage of load imbalance for transformer GT.SPB017 decreased from 7.6% to 4.3% in route 1 and for route 2 from 21.6% to 3.6%. Meanwhile, the power losses in Route 1 fell from 1.641/day to 1.627/day and in Route 2 from 2.4122/day to 1.2307/day. Meanwhile, the percentage of load imbalance on transformer GT.SRI002 decreased from 18.6% to 2.3%. Then the power dissipation in the GT.SRI002 transformer, which was originally 12.8 /day, dropped to 5,427 /day. From this, it can be concluded that effective load balancing can reduce the percentage of load imbalance, and also the neutral wire current can be minimized, so that the value of the power losses that occurs is not large.
