Abstract :
Block paving mix consisting of cement, sand and water with a certain ratio. In this study the manufacture of paving blocks using waste plastic bottles and glass bottles waste as a substitute for sand and cement,it is also useful to tackle the waste bin that can not be decomposed by soil, and provide better economic value onplastic bottle waste and waste glass bottles. Manufacture of paving blocks with substitutes plastic bottle waste and waste glass bottles intended so that the compressive strength and water absorption better than normal paving block. The composition of the material for the paving block is 1 (cement) to 4 (sand). With substitute material composition of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the sand and cement,conducted testing compressive strength and moisture absorption at the age of 7 days, 14 days, 21 days and 28 days, In the manufacture of paving blocks the result is that the use of waste plastic bottles and glass bottles waste as a substitute for sand and cement to increase the compressive strength of paving blocks and reduce the percentage of water absorption of block paving it self on test in 28 days. The optimum mix paving block with the use of waste plastic bottles and glass bottles waste contained in the substitute material variation by 10% with an average value of compressive strength to a maximum that is equal to 8.8 MPa and absorption percentage of 2.24%. According to the requirements of SNI 03-0691-1996 compressive strength values are included into the quality of D used for parks and other uses. And the unit price calculation results obtained environmentally friendly paving block price is cheaper than the normal price of paving blocks at a price of Rp. 3054, -, while the normal paving block price of Rp 3176, -. From these results, the plastic bottle waste and waste glass bottles can be used as an alternative to environmentally friendly construction materials so as to gives a high economic value in waste plastic bottles and glass bottles waste.
