Abstract :
Due to changes in the load on the electric power system and the location of the substations that are far from the power plant causing a significant drop in voltage and causing large power losses. This problem can be overcome by using
FACTS, including Static Var Compensator (SVC) which can increase the reliability of power transfer to the load by adjusting the parameters in it. In this study SVC is used to reduce transmission power losses and overcome the problem of voltage drop. The method used is Newton-Raphson power flow simulation before installing SVC to search for critical buses, then look for power flow after SVC installation using ETAP on these critical buses. In the simulation results, the power flow obtained is a critical bus, namely the Jember, Banyuwangi and Genteng buses.
And SVC installation increases the voltage on the bus by 1.9 kV on Jember Bus, 3.4 kV Banyuwangi Bus and 3.3 kV Tile Bus. And can reduce the power loss from 11182.7 kW to 10084.9 kW.
