Abstract :
Paving block as a building material is often used for pavement, be it roads,
sidewalks, or parks consisting of a mixture of cement, sand, water, and other filling
materials. In this study the manufacture of paving blocks using bagasse ash as a cement
substitute and lightweight brick as a fine aggregate substitute, this study aims to determine
the compressive strength, water absorption, and economic value of paving blocks. The
composition of the material used is 1 PC : 4 Sand with variations of 5% sugarcane ash
waste for cement substitution and 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% light brick waste
for sand substitution. The compressive strength test was carried out at the age of 7 days,
14 days, and 28 days and water absorption at the age of 28 days. The results of the
optimum compressive strength variation (5% bagasse ash + 10% light brick) was 18.50
MPa with a water absorption percentage of 6.375%. The results of the calculation of the
economic value of paving blocks obtained that the price paving blocks bagasse ash waste
and lightweight brick waste is cheaper than paving blocks normal Rp. 1.218, - while for
normal paving blocks it is Rp. 1.304, - with a price difference of Rp. 86.
