Abstract :
The grounding system is an important part in the construction of substations. This
grounding system serves to protect equipment and humans from the danger of leakage
current when under normal conditions or in disturbances. This study has the aim of
achieving safe criteria at the 70 kV substation PT. Indotama Ferro Alloys when planning
is carried out so that the main requirements for an earthing system are fulfilled, namely
a reliable and effective grounding system. The grid earthing system is used in this design,
with the soil resistivity value being a factor that affects the depth of conductor planting
and the total rods with a combination of the number of rods and grids. This planning is
done by measuring the ground resistance which can then determine and compare the
tolerance limits of the touch voltage and step voltage with the actual voltage. Based on
the results of the 70 kV substation planning PT. Indotama Ferro Alloys obtained a soil
resistivity of 6.85 ohm-meters so that the diameter of the conductor to be used is 0.01 m.
Then the touch voltage limit is 1538.90 V and the step voltage limit is 5489.51 V, and the
calculated mesh voltage is 552.56 V.
