Abstract :
The protection system is a system designed to detect the difference in the value of the
current, voltage, or phase angle with the configuration value. The protection system is
very important in the electric power system. With the replacement of relays on the
transmission network of the Seberang Barito Substation - Kayutangi Substation, it is
necessary to research the relay setting value in order to obtain reliable and selective
relay settings in overcoming interference. The analytical method used in this research is
a comparative quantitative method which includes interviews, observations and
literature studies to obtain the data needed, then from the data that has been collected
then calculations are carried out and the results of the calculations will be compared
with the setting values found in the field. The coverage of the distance relay protection
work area installed in zone 1 is about 80% of the length of the line, with an impedance
of 1.26 ohms and a reactance of 1.209 ohms. The range of zone 2 is about 120% of the
impedance which is 2.4 ohms and reactance of 1.813 ohms. Zone 3 range from the
impedance of 4.067 ohms and reactance of 3.022 ohms. When a disturbance occurs
within a radius of 80% of the relay installed, the zone 1 relay will work. When the
disturbance occurs at a distance radius of 80% - 120% then the disturbance enters
Zone 2. And when the disturbance occurs at a radius of 120% - 200% then the
disturbance enters Zone 3.
