Abstract :
The preparation of this final project was based on a disturbance that occurred in the AVANZA feeder where the protection system failed to work due to lack of time coordination between protection devices. It is noted that the AVANZA feeder is the feeder with the highest GI PMT trip (Zone 1) in 2021 with seven trips. After identifying the fault data, it turns out that the fault location occurs in Zones 2 and 3 with a relatively small to moderate level of current, considering that the disturbance that occurs should be overcome by the PMT and recloser. So that in order to be well coordinated, it is necessary to calculate the setting time between protection devices so that the time difference is obtained according to the IEEE 242-2001 standard where the working time value of each protection device is set with a time difference of 0.25 - 0.5 seconds. The first step in the coordination process is to identify the disturbances that occur, then carry out coordination planning. After that, the data needed to be collected in the process of calculating the impedance value, the amount of short circuit current and the time setting value on the recloser and PMT, the difference in time setting is 0.10 seconds (already in accordance with the IEEE 242-2001 standard). Then a coordination simulation is performed on the ETAP 16.0.0 16.0.0 application. After the simulation, satisfactory results were obtained, namely the recloser and PMT could be coordinated well, then these results were applied to the timing settings in PMT NUT and recloser MT.
