Abstract :
The use of electrical energy from year to year must certainly be accompanied by the reliability of a reliable electric power system. One of the most vital tools in the electric power distribution system is a transformer. Distribution transformers are a very vital component for medium voltage distribution systems. But not infrequently distribution transformers experience disturbances. One of them is overload transformer. The cause of the overload is that the load attached to the transformer exceeds the maximum capacity of the transformer. So that it will affect the transformer which becomes hot and results in an increase in the winding temperature of the transformer coil. The increase in winding temperature can cause damage to the winding insulation in the transformer coil which is at risk of transformer damage and can result in a cut off of electricity distribution to consumers. If the load has exceeded 80% of the transformer capacity, then the transformer has said overload (more load), then one solution is the Transformer Uprating method. The Uprating Method is a way to increase the power of the transformer that is experiencing overload problems or more load. In this final project, the results of the
calculation carried out by the percentage of transformer loading at the GT SRI024 substation before uprating the transformer by 89.2% exceeded 80% of the Transformer capacity (overload). After uprating the transformer was carried out by 59.79%, so it
experienced a decrease of 29.63%. With this decrease, the performance of the transformer becomes more efficient.
