Abstract :
The protection system is important in electricity because the protection system functions to minimize disturbances that occur in the medium voltage distribution system when distributing electricity to consumers. Based on the data obtained at PT. PLN (Persero) UP3 Ciracas there were eight disturbances to the Kerinci feeder, this was because the protection system at the feeder did not work properly, resulting in a feeder trip that caused all distribution substations at the feeder to go out. Based on the simulation using ETAP, it is known that the short-circuit fault on the 1% line bus is 11.673 kA because the line is close to the voltage source and the short-circuit fault on the 100% line bus is 0.68 kA. The further away the line is, the smaller the short-circuit fault current. After knowing the magnitude of the short-circuit fault current, the OCR relay setting is used to determine the protection coordination in the Kerinci feeder. In the Kerinci feeder, the feeder protection is found in CBO 1 which is located on the 50% line bus and on CBO 2 which is located on the 70% line bus. After simulating the protection coordination on ETAP, it can be seen that the protection coordination is good because the relays work alternately and the relay works first, the CBO 2 relay and the CBO 1 relay as backup protection
