Abstract :
Hydro generating plant, especially the big one (capacity over 100 MW), generally contributes to control the system frequency by controlling MW active power generated in the interconnection system While the load connected in the
system particularly changes all the time so that MW active power control is needed to maintain the frequency operating within the permissible limit (approximately 1%). This thesis discusses about how a speed droop governor adjustment of a hydro generating plant contributes to control the system
frequency by using computer and Load Frequency Control (LFC) program. The speed droop governor adjustment must also consider electromagnetic issues occurring in the hydro generating plant. This thesis researches the work principle of governor and LFC program in the hydro generating plant by using described qualitative method. The result is 5% for the speed droop due to the study held in PLTA Cirata.
