Abstract :
In this research, porcelain and glass insulators were tested to see their insulation resistance to the effect of increasing humidity based on humidity in the North Jakarta area. The test uses the breakdown test method, where the voltage is increased continuously until the insulator breaks down with reference to SPLN 10-1A: 1996. The humidity parameter is set using a humidifier, where this tool can create a mist so that the humidity can be raised. Humidity is set from 72%, 75%, 78%, 81%, 84%, 87% to 90%, while for the salt pollutant parameter a salt dose of 200 gr/2000 ml is used so that the ESDD pollutant weight measured on the porcelain insulator is 0.079 mg /cm2 and 0.087 mg/cm2 on glass insulators which are in the medium weight category. The results of the tests carried out show that as the humidity level increases, the breakdown voltage that occurs in the insulator will decrease and when added with salt pollutants the breakdown voltage produced decreases, besides the thickness of the fog used during testing also affects the insulation resistance of an insulator. The thicker the fog makes the surface of the insulator wet quickly and accelerates the occurrence of breakdown voltage.
